Al-Sadd resume training ahead of QSL Cup

2 min read

The Al-Sadd football first team resumed training on Monday, after three days of rest which followed the big 7-1 win over Al-Kharaitiyat in the QNB Stars League.

The Wolves are now preparing for the upcoming QSL Cup Group B – Round 3 fixture against Al-Sailiya, which will be played at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Friday.

Monday’s session was held in the absence of several players who have joined their respective national team squads for international duty. Eight players (Saad Al-Dosari, Khoukhi Boualem, Abdelkarim Hassan, Tareq Salman, Salem Al-Hajri, Akram Afif, Hassan Al-Haydos, Pedro Miguel) are with the senior Qatar national team for the friendlies against Switzerland and Iceland.

Five other players (Meshaal Barsham, Hatem Kamal, Bahaa Al-Lithy, Hassan Ahmed, Yousuf Abdelrazaq) are with the Qatar U23 team while Baghdad Bounedjah has joined the Algerian national team camp ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Togo.

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira used Monday’s session to work on the physical fitness of the available players, in order to ensure they are in top condition before the resumption of the league.

Midfielder Jung Woo-young continued his recuperation under the supervision of the club’s medical staff as he works towards full recovery from an ankle injury that he sustained in the QNB Stars League Round 11 game against Al-Ahli. Jung has been excused from playing for the South Korean national team due to the injury.

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd goalkeeper Saoud Al-Hajri made his return to training after recovering from a partial cruciate ligament tear that he suffered while playing the QatarGas League. Al-Hajri will continue to train under the goalkeeping coach Eduardo Perez before joining the first team for group training.
