Xavi: Everyone worked for this important achievement

Al-Sadd captain and midfield star Xavi Hernandez spoke of his great happiness after the team won the 2017 Emir Cup with a 2-1 win over Al-Rayyan.

Speaking after the match, Xavi said: “We have clinched an important achievement with this triumph, winning the most important title of this season.”

He added: “This win came as a result of the efforts of the group, from every member of this team. We are happy with this win over Al-Rayyan in the final. Al-Rayyan played a great match, in fact a great season and they are one of the best teams in Qatar.”

The captain also expressed his delight in seeing the happiness of the fans who had been awaiting the second Cup triumph of the team following the Qatar Cup. “It was important for us to end the season with an important title in order to crown the efforts that we have put in throughout the season.”

Xavi went on to conclude by saying: “Al-Sadd players were stars throughout the match. Every player did well; we put in great effort throughout the 90 minutes against a difficult opponent.”
