QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd register huge 8-1 win over Qatar SC

Akram Afif and Baghdad Bounedjah both scored hat-tricks to lead Al-Sadd to a 8-1 win over Qatar SC, that maintained the Wolves’ four-point lead on top of the QNB Stars League table.

The match began with both sides displaying caution early on and it took until the 23rd minute for a goal to materialise. It was Al-Sadd who struck, with Abdelkarim Hassan’s stunning effort from distance sailing into the top corner.

A second goal arrived for Al-Sadd in the 30th minute. This time, it was from a penalty, which was awarded for a foul on Bounedjah by Qatar SC defender Omar Al Emadi. Bounedjah himself stepped up to take the kick and made no mistake to give Al-Sadd a 2-0 lead.

Afif made it 3-0 just five minutes later, with an overhead kick from close range, after the Qatar SC defence failed to properly clear Abdelkarim’s cross. Hassan Al-Haydos then went on to score Al-Sadd’s fourth in first half injury time, converting from the penalty spot.

After the restart, Bahaa Abdulrahman pulled a goal back for Qatar SC with a strike from outside the box. However, Al-Sadd continued to dominate and were rewarded further as both Afif and Bounedjah went on to complete their hat-tricks. Afif struck in the 57th and 72nd minutes while Bounedjah scored Al-Sadd’s seventh and eighth goals in the 84th and 93rd minutes, as the Qatar SC defence collapsed.
