Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd resume training to prepare for Al-Shahania clash

The Al-Sadd first team resumed training on Wednesday at the club’s secondary pitch, beginning their preparations for the upcoming Ooredoo Cup group stage clash with Al-Shahania.

After a three-day break which followed the last QNB Stars League game against Qatar SC, the Al-Sadd squad reported for training on Wednesday, with 12 players missing due to international commitments.

Saad Al-Dosari, Pedro Miguel, Khoukhi Boualem, Salem Al-Hajri, Tarek Salman, Hassan Al-Haydos and Akram Afif have joined the Qatar national team camp ahead of thei game against Afghanistan in the World Cup – Asian Cup joint qualifiers, while Hashim Ali and Meshaal Barsham have been called up to the Qatar Olympic team squad.

Baghdad Bounedjah will also be absent during the league break, due to the call-up from the Algerian national team, just as Jung Woo-young and Nam Tae-hee, who will represent South Korea. Meanwhile, Ahmed Sayyar is out of action due to injury.

Al-Sadd will go into the Al-Shahania clash, having lost their first Ooredoo Cup game to Al-Wakrah. Their other opponents in the group are Al-Rayyan, Al-Ahli and Umm Salal.
