Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of his delight after his side’s massive 6-0 victory over Al-Sailiya in the QNB Stars League Round 13 game which was played on Saturday evening.

Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It is difficult to explain the result of the match. I want to congratulate the players for the great work they have done and I hope they continue to play like this in all the upcoming matches.”

He added: “Everyone knows the tough situation that the team went through. We are working on overcoming these problems.”

“Al-Sadd played against a really strong team. Everyone knows their position and they are better than last season. But they could not withstand the pressure put on them by Al-Sadd. The match was very difficult for them, especially Al-Sadd’s attack was in excellent form tonight.”

While Ferreira said that he “did not predict a six-goal win”, he added that he was very “happy with the win.”

“We did not commit any error today and we got a clean sheet as well. We did well in all the departments.”

Asked about Al-Sadd’s strong response after the draw against Al-Markhiya, Ferreira said that “practice is the key to success” and that it “led to the improvement in the team’s performance after the game against Al-Markhiya.”

He also said: “Abdelkarim and Hamid are former players of the club and they know the playing style. It is easy for them to acclimatise and get in sync quickly. They’ve both trained under me for a long time.”

Ferreira added: “The credit for the victory goes to team work and intense training. The best psychological medicine in football is a win and the players fully deserve this result. This win is a reward for everyone – the management, the fans, the staff and the players.”

As for the team’s impressive attack amidst the absence of Baghdad Bounedjah, Ferreira said: “With Baghdad, we drew, lost and won. Without him, we have to play in a different way. In this match, we managed to get a big win. This does not belittle Baghdad’s abilities. I won’t cry over his absence; I will always look for solutions and this is not an easy thing.”

Ferreira went on to conclude by saying: “I wish Baghdad returns healthy and 100% fit to play, in order to help us in the upcoming matches which will be difficult.”
