Al-Sadd resume training without internationals after 4 day break

Despite the absence of many players, the Al-Sadd football first team resumed training at 5:30 PM on Monday at the club’s training pitch after a period of rest which lasted for four days. The players were given the four days off following the 4-0 win over Al-Shahaniya in Round 6 of the QSL.

The team will now prepare for the Round 7 match against Al-Wakrah, which will be played on the 20th of November at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. Al-Sadd are currently in second place in the league standings with 14 points from 4 wins and two draws.

Absence of the internationals

The team trained on Monday without 11 players who are away with the Qatar senior and Olympic national teams: Saad Al-Dosari, Ibrahim Majid, Ali Asad, Pedro, Mohammed Kasola, Salem Al-Hajri, Hassan Al-Haidos, Hamed Ismail, Meshaal Al-Shammari, Hussam Kamal and Hatem Kamal.

International callups for Bounedjah and Pouraliganji

Also absent from the team are Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah and Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji, as both of them received international callups as well. Boundejah will join the Algerian team for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on November 11 while Morteza is part of the Iranian team that will play Syria.

Injury rules out Al-Jalabi

Al-Sadd’s Abdulaziz Al-Jalabi was ruled out of training after sustaining a knee injury while playing in the QatarGas League, which will keep him out of action for upto 4 weeks.

Physical training after the rest period

The first team players underwent physical training after their return from the four-day period of rest, in order to regain their shape and be fit to go through the upcoming phase.

Bounedjah chosen as the best for October

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah was chosen as the club’s best player for the month of October after winning an online vote on the club’s official Instagram page.
