Al-Sadd resume training, honour young fan

2 min read

The Al-Sadd football first team resumed training on Friday evening, after a two-day rest which followed the 3-1 win over Al-Duhail in the QNB Stars League.

The team is now preparing for the upcoming QSL Cup tie against Al-Khor.

Friday’s training session was made notable by the presence of young Al-Sadd fan Mohammed Saeed bin Mahfouz, who was honoured by the team for his passionate celebration after Salem Al-Hajri’s goal against Al-Duhail.

Mohammed’s celebration was caught on television cameras and was shared widely on the internet. The Al-Sadd squad gifted him with a jersey that had his named on it, and he also got to take photos with the players.

“I’m very happy to be honoured like this by the team and I am even more happier with the win over Al-Duhail, which gave us top spot for the next phase, for up to two months. This made me celebrate the goal so wildly,” said Mohammed, while adding that his favourite player on the team is Hassan Al-Haydos.

Meanwhile, the team trained as usual on Friday, but without nine players who are away with the Qatar national team at their preparatory camp ahead of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. The nine players are Saad Al-Dosari, Abdelkarim Hassan, Tarek Salman, Pedro Miguel, Hamid Ismail, Salem Al-Hajri, Khoukhi Boualem, Hassan Al-Haydos and Akram Afif.

Another notable part of Friday evening was the celebration of midfielder Jung Woo-young’s 29th birthday. The team arranged for a special cake with Jung’s name on it and everyone celebrated with him before the start of the training session.
