Al-Sadd goalkeeper Saad Al-Dosari has spoken of his happiness with the progress of the preseason training, saying that the players have been benefiting from the camp currently being held in the Austrian town of Kaprun.
Speaking to the club website, Saad said: “Preseason has been progressing well and the players are really happy with the level of the training which will get them prepared for the new season that is going to be really tough.” He also pointed out that the two friendly matches which will be played during the camp will be a good way to prepare, despite the fact that it will not be the real measure of the team.
The Al-Sadd keeper added: “The physical condition of the team has been improving. It is going to be tough with the presence of El-Jaish, Lekhwiya and Al-Rayyan, all of who have good players. And so we need to work hard to reach the best condition before the start of the new season.”
Saad also spoke of the presence of all the players in the team, saying: “It gives us a better opportunity to increase the coordination and synchronization among the players. It also gives the coach better options. We now need to work hard to achieve the goals that we set.”
As for the pressure that will be on the team in the upcoming season, Saad said: “Since its inception, Al-Sadd has been playing under the pressure to win. We, as players, are used to it and it will not affect us. We will always give our best to win.”
Saad had extended his contract at the beginning of the season and he expressed his pride with this development. “I praise God for this; I am proud and happy to continue with Al-Sadd. I have been with the team since my junior days. I will give all my effort to help the team,” said the keeper.
Asked about his relationship with teammate and fellow keeper Muhannad Naim, Saad said: “Of course, Muhannad is my brother and friend. I consider it an honour to train with him. The competiton between us is always in the best interests of the team, to serve the team.”
The keeper also went on to add: “The goalkeeper coach Nando Scarpello has been working very hard with us to raise our levels and increase our physical and technical abilities. He always helps us during the session to reach our best performances.”
He also talked about the chances of Qatar qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, saying: “The campaign is tough but there is nothing impossible in football. In our group, there are strong teams but with our coach Carreno, we are united for the goal of reaching Russia 2018.”
Saad concluded his chat by saying: “The Al-Sadd fans are a big group and they always stand behind the team in all the tough situations we have been in. I have the utmost respect for them. They are always number one.”
