AFC honours Baghdad Bounedjah on finishing as top scorer of ACL 2018

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has honoured Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah with the Top Scorer Award after the Algerian finished on top of the 2018 AFC Champions League goalscoring charts with 13 goals.

Al-Sadd sporting director Mohammed Gholam, first team manager Abdullah Al-Breik and head coach Jesualdo Ferreira presented the award to Bounedjah on Monday, before the start of the main training session.

Bounedjah expressed his delight at receiving the award, saying: “I am very happy to be crowned as the top scorer and I want to thank all my teammates, the staff and the management. This award will have a positive effect on the team in the upcoming competitions. This award is a result of the efforts of everyone on the team.”

He added: “We had an intense campaign in the AFC Champions League. We hoped we could reach the final. This is what we will aim for in the next edition.”

“I am proud to finish as the ACL top scorer and I hope to continue giving my best for Al-Sadd in the upcoming competitions as well.”
