Al-Sadd first team manager Abdullah Al-Breik believes that the AFC Champions League quarterfinal draw was a balanced one and that all the teams in it are strong, after his side were drawn to face Esteghlal FC of Iran.
Speaking after the draw ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Al-Breik said: “We will have an intense training period coming up ahead of the quarterfinals, especially as the players will be returning after a break. There is enough time to prepare the team well for the Champions League.”
He added: “We know about how important and difficult these quarterfinals games are. Esteghlal are not strangers to us, we faced them last year. I am confident that Al-Sadd players will fulfill their responsibility.”
“All the teams in the tournament have the ambition to win the tournament. We are ready to compete hard with them.”
The first leg of the quarterfinal will be played in Tehran on August 27 at Esteghlal’s Azadi Stadium, while Al-Sadd will host the second leg in Doha on September 17 at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
