QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd cruise to a 3-0 win over Al-Arabi

Al-Sadd clinched a comfortable 3-0 win over Al-Arabi in Round 13 of the QNB Stars League on Saturday, maintaining second place in the league table.

The win lifted Al-Sadd to a tally of 26 points from 11 games, with two delayed games against Al-Khor and Al-Duhail yet to be played.

Baghdad Bounedjah opened the scoring early on, netting in the 7th minute after finishing off Akram Afif’s pass with a powerful left-footed strike.

After the breakthrough, Al-Sadd went on to dominate the game for the rest of the half but it took until the stroke of halftime for a second goal to arrive.

Once again, it was Bounedjah who got it. The Algerian marksman made no mistake from the penalty spot in the second minute of first half added time after Abdelkarim Hassan was fouled in the box.

As the second half began, Al-Sadd picked up from where they had left off and were awarded another penalty just two minutes after the restart, when Akram Afif was brought down in the area. This time, Hassan Al-Haydos stepped up and the captain converted coolly to give his side a 3-0 lead.

Having secured a comfortable advantage, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira made two changes to the team at the hour mark, bringing on Ahmed Sayyar and Jung Woo-young in place of Salem Al-Hajri and Ali Asad.

The Wolves kept looking for a goal to further increase the scoreline but despite their efforts, the game went on to end in a 3-0 win.
