Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd lose to Al-Ahli
Al-Sadd fell to a 4-3 defeat to Al-Ahli in the Ooredoo Cup Group B – Round 3 clash which was played at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.
The result means that Al-Sadd remain with a tally of 3 points after 3 games, following a win over Al-Shahania and a defeat to Al-Wakrah previously.
Mustafa Meshaal opened the scoring for Al-Sadd early on, converting Abdulaziz Al-Ansari’s cross in the 5th minute. The Wolves then went 2-0 up (11′), when Rami Suhail netted after lobbing the ball over the keeper and slotting home from close range.
Al-Ahli then came back strongly through goals from Abel Hernandez (13′, 38′) and Mohammad Diame (20′) to turn the result around.
In the second half, Barro Sidiki scored Al-Ahli’s fourth goal (88′) and put the game beyond Al-Sadd’s reach. Substitute Saoud Al-Nasr pulled a goal back for Al-Sadd in stoppage time (90+3′) but it was not enough.
