OFFICIAL: Al-Sadd sign Gabi

Al-Sadd SC is pleased to announe the signing of Spanish player Gabi Fernandez on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Gabi had earlier reached Doha on Monday morning to complete his medical examination and the final negotiations, before signing the contract later in the day. The contract was signed in the presence of Al-Sadd head of football Mohammed Ghanem Al-Ali, general manager Turki Al-Ali, sporting director Mohammed Gholam Al-Baloushi and media officer Ahmed Al-Ansari.

The 35-year-old Spaniard came through the Atletico Madrid youth ranks before going on to play for Getafe and Real Zaragoza. He then returned to Atletico Madrid in 2011 and rose to become captain of the club, leading them to a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey win and two Champions League finals, in addition to winning the Europa League twice.
