Morteza: The competition next season is going to be tough

Al-Sadd defender Morteza Pouraliganji has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the preseason training camp in Kaprun, saying that it has been beneficial for all the players. Speaking to the club website in an exclusive interview, Pouraliganji said that the after a period of rest, the players were training hard to prepare for the new season.

The Iranian went on to add: “The condition of the team is very good. Our place of stay in Kaprun is the best, having all the facilities that are helping the team to have a successful camp. Everyone is happy to be in Kaprun, where the team has been training for the sixth straight season.”

As for the upcoming season and the ambitions ahead of the kickoff, Morteza said: “I expect the competition to be tough between all the Qatari teams. However, we at Al-Sadd have great players, both Qatari and foreigners, alongside excellent coaching staff. Our goal is always to compete for all the tournaments and we will work very hard and seriously to achieve that.”

Morteza joined up the team at the mid-way point last season and when asked about the Al-Sadd defence gelling together ahead of the new season, he said: “There were some problems with the new coach coming in but things have become much better; we have excellent defenders like Pedro, Kasola and Ibrahim (Majid). We have gelled with each other, we will all work together to give our best with the start of the season. We need to be one and play in an excellent manner.”

The defender added: “I am happy with the welcome the Al-Sadd fans have given me. I always try to help my team defensively and offensively. I hope to score goals to help my teams to achieve victories, especially as I consider scoring goals my favourite hobby!”

 

As for the upcoming match between Qatar and Iran, Morteza said: “Qatar has excellent players of a high calibre. The match with the Iran in the World Cup qualifiers will be a difficult and hard-fought match.”

Morteza concluded his chat with the website by saying: “From the first day I came to Al-Sadd, I know that it is one of the best teams in Asia. It has a big history of winning titles and I hope I can be a part of this history by winning titles with them, especially the Asian Champions League title.”
