Internationals return to training as Al-Sadd prepares for Lekhwiya

Al-Sadd’s international players returned to the club and reported for training on Wednesday after the end of international duty during the past week.

The group included the eight players who were away with the senior Qatar national team (Saad Al-Dosari, Ibrahim Majid, Abdelkarim Hassan, Pedro, Mohammed Kasola, Ali Asad, Musab Kheder, Hassan Al-Haydos) and the six who were with the Qatar Olympic team (Hatem Kamal, Hossam Kamal, Meshaal Al-Shammari, Salem Al-Hajri, Abdulaziz Al-Khalosi, Ayoob Mashhoor).

Defender Morteza Pouraliganji was also away on international duty with the Iranian national team for the World Cup qualifiers against Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Al-Sadd are currently preparing to face Lekhwiya in Round 3 of the Qatar Stars League. The match will be played on October 16 at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. Al-Sadd are currently joint top of the QSL table alongside Lekhwiya and El-Jaish with 6 points each after two rounds.

Wednesday’s session saw the coaching staff implement the physical training programme for the international players while the rest of the players underwent technical and tactical training. The coaches also focused on special tactical training for attacks on goal and also dealing with it from the defensive aspects.

Led by Jesualdo Ferreira, the coaching staff and the team management congratulated the Al-Sadd players who were part of the Qatar national team that defeated Syria 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier. They commended the great performance shown by the Al-Sadd players in a deserved victory.

Recovery training for the internationals

The international players underwent specialized training under the supervision of fitness coach Joao in order to recover from the fatigue after the World Cup qualifiers and to prepare well for the upcoming game against Lekhwiya.

Club VP attends the session

Vice president Nasser Mubarak Al-Ali and Head of Football Mohammed Ghanem Al-Ali attended the session on Wednesday to show their support to the players ahead of the important phase of matches lying ahead.
