Internationals return as Al-Sadd continue training
Al-Sadd’s international players returned to the squad on Wednesday, as the team continued to prepare for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 13 game against Al-Arabi, which will be played on Saturday at the Grand Hamad Stadium.
Eight players – Hassan Al-Haydos, Khoukhi Boualem, Saad Al-Dosari, Pedro Miguel, Abdelkarim Hassan, Akram Afif, Tareq Salman, Salem Al-Hajri -returned to the team after their participation in Qatar’s European camp, which saw two friendly games against Switzerland and Iceland.
Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah also returned after playing for this national team in the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Togo.
The Al-Sadd players were in high spirits as they trained together on Wednesday, looking to keep up their good form when they face off against Al-Arabi. The Wolves are currently in second place in the league table with 23 points and two games in hand.
Wednesday’s session saw head coach Jesualdo Ferreira work on tactical strategies, with the execution of certain offensive moves. At the end of the session, there was a focus on free kicks from outside the boxes and from the wings.
The international players who had only joined on Wednesday underwent recovery training, which included movement drills with and without the ball, in addition to exercises designed to get rid of fatigue.
Also, the team congratulated Abdelkarim Hassan on being named as one of the three nominees for the 2018 AFC Player of the Year award and Baghdad Bounedjah on finishing as the 2018 AFC Champions League top scorer.
Meanwhile, the pre-match press conference has been set for 4 PM at the club conference hall, with Ferreira and Abdelkarim scheduled to attend.
