Ferreira: We got an important win; we need to improve our attack

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of the importance of the 1-0 win over Al-Khor in the Qatar Stars League Round 9 match held on Friday.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It was an important and deserved win. We wasted many chances by committing errors. All players commit errors, even Barcelona players. For proof, watch Barcelona’s match tomorrow and see players making mistakes; this is how football is.”

The boss went on to say: “We wasted chances in this match just as we did in the last two matches. Today too, we could have clinched the game in the first 20 minutes like against Al-Arabi. Against Al-Khor and Al-Wakrah, we scored a goal each although our average was three goals per game. This wasn’t good.”

As for the way the Al-Khor match turned out, Ferreira said: “I have said before that Al-Khor are really strong. We controlled the first half completely and wasted a number of chances. In the second half, we were better in performance, even while having many players who are returning from injuries and need time to reach their normal levels. We played three matches in a short period. Ahead of us now are 4 important matches in the upcoming period till the end of the first phase of the league.”

Ferreira also expressed his happiness with the attacking performance and chance creation, saying: “I am happy with the attacking performance of Al-Sadd, we created many chances. We need to improve further in that. We are playing as a single group. We just need to avoid wasting chances to score goals.”
