Ferreira: We don’t deserve this result; we’ll fight until the end

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of his disappointment after his side could only draw 0-0 with Umm Salal in the QSL Round 23 match played on Thursday. The result meant that the Wolves lost two points which could have been valuable in the title race.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “Only one team played today and it was Al-Sadd. This is the first match in which we didn’t score a goal. We are not happy with this and also the result. If we had scored an early goal, things would have been easier. Umm Salal depended on defending and time-wasting. I won’t talk about the refereeing, especially today’s main referee.”

The Al-Sadd coach went on to add: “I want to congratulate the players for their performance, especially Ahmed Sayar. I am sad because Mohammed Kasola got his fourth yellow and he doesn’t deserve it. Now he won’t play against Al-Rayyan.”

As for the upcoming period, Ferreira said: “We have a month-long break now but we’re going to fight until the last minute to win the league. We don’t deserve this negative result. The biggest reason for the draw was our wasting of chances. Umm Salal played with 10 men in defence. We could have scored but we gave them a lot of confidence while we were hesitant even with the penalty, which was missed. But this is how football is.”
