Ferreira: This is a deserved win, I salute the players
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of his great delight after his side returned to winning ways in the QNB Stars League with a 5-1 victory over Umm Salal on Friday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “This is the same team that played against Al-Ahli but the mentality changed, and after turning the page on the Champions League exit, the team has become better. Even now, I cannot understand what happened against Al-Ahli with the 4-1 loss, despite the fact that we had many chances to score and could have at least got a draw.”
He added: “We suffered a lot in the month of October but November, things look good for us and I think that the team will perform well in the upcoming games.”
The coach also added that Al-Sadd played the most number of games and did not have adequate rest, saying: “We travelled a lot recently and among Qatari clubs, we were the team that played the most number of matches.”
“I expected a tough match against Umm Salal tonight but hte players performed at an excellent level and the attack showed its strength, and everyone saw that.”
Ferreira also said: “Umm Salal are a tough team and when after scoring five goals against them, the Al-Sadd players need to be congratulated. We went through some tough situations, which people don’t know about.”
The Al-Sadd coach conlcuded by saying: “We play as a team. Despite scoring five goals, Baghdad Bounedjah did not get any of them. This shows that we work as a team and don’t depend on one attacking star.”
