Ferreira: The win was a result of the players’ effort

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke to the press after the 3-1 win over Al-Sailiya, describing the result as a deserved one.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It is a good, important win. It is natural that with the score at 3-0, the players lose focus at the final few minutes, especially as there is a lot of fatigue after playing 6 matches in a tight schedule. We will play the seventh match against in less than a month and as everyone knows, this causes fatigue and affects our training. But this is the schedule and we must respect it.”

As for what happened to Baghdad Bounedjah in the first half, Ferreira said: “The referee put pressure on Baghdad and threatened to send him off. And so, he was afraid of getting a fourth card. In this match and the last, the referees saw him to be diving but this did not happen. Bounedjah was just helping his team in attack. The pressure from the referees resulted in him not performing as usual.”

The boss went on to add: “Why did the referee give a yellow card to Abdelkarim Hassan while the Al-Sailiya players were committing fouls throughout the match but did not get any card?”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “The team has improved a lot in the recent matches. This is our fifth straight win. We are now on top of the league. But there is still a lot to learn. All that we have achieved now is because of the efforts of the players.”
