Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke to the media after his team defeated Al-Kharaitiyat 1-0 in Round 22 of the QSL and said that it was a deserved win for the Wolves.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “The win was a fair result after a match which was difficult just like all the others we play. We did not finish all our chances as in many of our matches but we also did not concede any goal and this is a good thing.” He went on to say that the players delivered a strong performance in the match and came away happy with the result.
The Portuguese coach added: “I congratulate the players for what they gave against Al-Kharaitiyat; I congratulate the players who returned to their real levels. The team managed to dominate the match despite facing some problems with the Kharaitiyat side.”
As for the goal scored by Baghdad Bounedjah, Ferreira said: “Congratulations to Bounedjah for the goal he scored, which will have a good effect on him personally and the team, especially as this is his second match with the team. The goal is the result of two weeks of hard training.”
The gaffer also spoke about the lack of stability in the lineup over the recent weeks, pointing out that injuries and suspensions are situations every team has to face. The injuries to Hamza Al-Sanhaji and Morteza Pouraliganji was something the team could do nothing about; similarly, Abdelkarim Hassan was also suspended due to a fourth yellow card. However, Ferreira gave a reassuring statement: “But the team is giving its best in the current period despite the circumstances. We have had three wins and a draw in our last four matches. And everyone saw Hamad Mansour making his first appearance against Al-Kharaitiyat.”
Ferreira concluded by saying: “We will try to get back all our players in the coming period in order to prepare well, as we are up against really tough matches, especially the one against Lekhwiya in the next round.”
