Al-Sadd first team head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke to the media on Saturday morning ahead of the QSL Round 25 game against Al-Rayyan and talked about the importance of the encounter. The match is set to kick off at 8:30 PM at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said, “The match against Al-Rayyan has its own specialty and it is a classic. We are preparing hard for it like we do for all the QSL matches. The match brings together the champions Al-Rayyan and the second placed Al-Sadd so we can expect the match to be entertaining for the fans. I hope they come in large numbers.”
The Al-Sadd coach also added, “I think that everyone remembers that the best match in the league this year was between Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan, in which we defeated them. Everyone knows that we are looking to keep our hold on second place and so our match against Al-Rayyan is crucial for us while at the same time, it might not be so for Al-Rayyan.”
As for the defeats that Al-Rayyan have faced recently, he said, “What is happening with Al-Rayyan is natural, especially as any team that has won the title could suffer from some sort of complacency. This has happened to me personally, with the teams that I have managed before. What we will do is to give our best performance agaisnt Al-Rayyan to achieve victory.”
Ferreira concluded the talk by saying, “We are only thinking about the two upcoming games and Al-Rayyan will think of winning just so to add to its tally, while it could also help them in the competition to win the two cups. And so it is imperative that we win the two remaining matches which we consider crucial for our chances to finish second.”
