Ferreira: Deserved victory, I salute the players for their performance

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness with the 3-2 win over Lekhwiya in Round 23 of the Qatar Stars League. He said that Al-Sadd deserved the win in light of the good performances of the players over both halves of the match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “The match was balanced with both sides desiring the three points. Al-Sadd played a great match against a team that has excellent players; we were able to succeed with our sharpness in finishing the chances.”
The coach also praised the performance of the players during the match, saying: “I congratulate the players for what they delivered during the match and their great desire to win despire the errors which occured and led to the two Lekhwiya goals. But we managed to score the third goal in the final few minutes to get the win.”
As for the substitution of Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah, Ferreira said that he was returning from an injury and had not reached full fitness yet. “Bounedjah played for 75 minutes in the match and needs time to reach full fitness despite his good performance which he showed during his time on the pitch. He is a great addition to the Al-Sadd attack and his presence will be crucial in the upcoming matches,” said the Portuguese coach.
Ferreira concluded the talk by saying: “We will miss the services of a number of players due to international duty in the upcoming period. The absence of this many players will definitely affect our preparation.”
