Ferreira: Al Ahli game will not be easy, we need to fight to win

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke to the media on Saturday, ahead of his team’s QNB Stars League clash with Al Ahli, and described the game as ‘special.’

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said: “The game will be special. It is one of the classic fixtures in Qatari football, especially as Al-Ahli are one of the oldest teams in Qatar and has a long history in the league.”

He added: “We will go into the match with a lot of focus as it precedes the (crucial) game against Al-Duhail. The players are ready for the game and our focus is on getting three points, despite facing some problems with our tight schedule of matches.”

As for the preparations for the game, Ferreira said that Al-Sadd was fully prepared and the team was in a good condition, especially after coming off the back of successive wins which has boosted the morale of all the squad members.

The Portuguese coach said: “There are five finals ahead of the team in the upcoming days. First, our focus is on defeating Al-Ahli before preparing for the game against Al-Duhail, which will be decisive in the title race.”

Ferreira went on to conclude by saying: “The clash with Al-Ahli is not a bygone result. We need to fight on all fronts in order to get the win. Rotating the players is important for us but resting many stars will hurt the performance of the. We will look to prepare the players in the best way so as to win.”
