Bounedjah scores super-hattrick as Al-Sadd defeat Al-Ahli 5-0

Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah scored four times as the Wolves registered a massive 5-0 victory over Al-Ahli in the QNB Stars League Round 18 game played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday.

The result kept Al-Sadd in second place in the league standings with 48 points, two behind leaders Al-Duhail, who they will face in the next round.

Bounedjah came into the match with a scoring streak of five goals in four games. The Algerian made sure it continued after he broke the deadlock in the 5th minute itself, finishing from just outside the box after a deflected ball fell at his feet.

In the 26th minute, Bounedjah had a chance to make it 2-0 but his header off Akram Afif’s cross went over the crossbar. Just before halftime, Al Ahli were saved by the crossbar after Afif’s cross crashed off it. Ali Asad tried to connect with the rebouned but his shot went wide.

In the second half, Al-Sadd head coach brought on Xavi and Khoukhi Boualem to replace Ali Asad and Yasir Abubakar. Ten minutes into the half, Al-Sadd doubled their lead. Abdelkarim Hassan sent in a cross from the left and Bounedjah’s first-time effort deflected in via the goalkeeper.

Bounedjah kept looking for more goals and he went on to complete his hat-trick in the 75th minute, after finishing off Hamroun’s cross. Seven minutes later, Bounedjah scored a fourth goal with a fierce shot from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Afif.

Finally, Al-Sadd scored their fifth goal in the final action of the game, as Hamroun got on the scoresheet with a volleyed shot off Afif’s cross from the right.
