Amouta: I will not look for excuses; we must address the mistakes

Hussein Amouta, Al Sadd coach, has described the 2-2 draw with Umm Salal in Round 2 of the QSL as a negative result.
In remarks made at the post-match press conference, Amouta said: “We certainly are not satisfied with the draw as we have come into the match with an aim: a win and three points. If we look at the game, we find that we dominated the match, keeping the ball but in the end, we failed to apply proper pressure on their goal.”
He continued his remarks, saying: “To be brutally honest, our defense did not play its role properly and I do not know the secret to this. It is enough to say that Umm Salal managed to score their first goal through their very first counterattack and although we managed to return to the game and got two goals, another defensive blunder brought the match back to the starting point. This is what we did not wish to happen; we are playing for the title and we should not lose 2 points at the beginning of the campaign.”
And on the performance of Umm Salal in the match, the Al Sadd coach said: There is no doubt that the opponent played in a defensive manner and adopted counter-attacking tactics. As for us, we kept the ball and tried to open the gaps in their ranks, and we succeeded in it a lot, but without any significant threat and this is worrying for us.”
Amouta concluded by saying: “It is clear that there is some fatigue and tiredness affecting our international players; it has been reflected in their focus while on the pitch. We should not search for excuses for this draw but instead seek to correct those mistakes.”
