Al-Sadd resume training to prepare for Ooredoo Cup opener
The Al-Sadd first team resumed practice on Wednesday evening at the club’s new training facility, after a three-day break which followed the team’s last league game against Al-Rayyan.
Next up for the Wolves is the Ooredoo Cup Round 1 clash with Al-Wakrah, which is set to be played on Friday at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium.
Wednesday’s session was held in the absence of 16 players, who are either away with their national teams or are currently injured.
Eight players (Saad Al-Dosari, Hassan Al-Haydos, Pedro Miguel, Salem Al-Hajri, Tarek Salman, Akram Afif, Khoukhi Boualem, Abdelkarim Hassan) are with the Qatar national team for their games against Bangladesh and Oman in the 2022 World Cup – 2023 Asian Cup joint qualifers.
Three others – Meshaal Barsham, Hussain Bahzad and Hashim Ali – have joined the Qatar Olympic team camp for their preparations for the AFC U-23 Championship in Thailand. Meanwhile, Baghdad Bounedjah is away with the Algerian national team while Jung Woo-young and Nam Tae-hee are with the South Korea national team.
Abdulaziz Al-Ansari is currently recovering from a muscle injury while Ahmed Bader Sayyar also missed training due to illness.
The coaching staff ensured that the available players underwent adequate physical exercises, before moving on to technical drills that involved passing the ball in small areas under constant pressure.
