Al-Sadd lose to Al-Arabi in the QSL Cup

Al-Sadd fell to a 5-4 defeat to Al-Arabi in the QSL Cup Group B fixture played on Sunday evening at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium.

Al-Arabi opened the scoring early on with Yousef Ahmed converting Yousef Ramadan’s cross from the left in the 2nd minute of the match.

The reply from Al-Sadd was quick and Jugurtha Hamroun equalised for the Wovles after dispatching a penalty in the 5th minute. The spot kick had been awarded after Abdulaziz Al-Jalabi had been brought down in the box.

The Wolves then took the lead after Rami Sohail made it 2-1 in the 14th minute by getting to the end of a cross from Yassir Abubakar.

Al-Arabi’s Tareq Hamid levelled the scores just five minutes later with a lobbed effort that went in at the far post.

Hatem Kamal restored Al-Sadd’s advantage in the 29th minute. After Hamroun’s cross rebounded off the defenders, Hatem was on hand to finish and score Al-Sadd’s third goal.

Yet another equaliser beckoned and this time it was Al Arabi’s Yousef Ahmed who netted it in the 33rd minute, getting his second goal of the game.

The first half thus ended with the teams tied at 3-3.

The scoring resumed in the 71st minute when Al-Arabi substitute Mohammed Atef scored from close range to make the score 4-3 in his side’s favour.

Al-Sadd came back fighting in the 76th minute when Hamroun scored his second of the game with a powerful shot from outside the box.

In the 80th minute of the game, Hamed Ismail struck the winner for Al-Arabi from the penalty spot, after Yousef Ahmed was brought down by Hussain Bahzad in the box.
