Al-Sadd lose Ooredoo Cup opener to Al-Wakrah
Al-Sadd fell to a 5-1 defeat to Al-Wakrah in their Ooredoo Cup Group A – Round 1 game, which was played at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Friday.
Al-Wakrah took the lead in the 34th minute through Abdulrahman Mesaad before Rami Suhail equalised for Al-Sadd in the 40th minute. Omar Ali then scored from the penalty spot two minutes later to restore Al-Wakrah’s lead before they went 3-1 ahead at the stroke of halftime, through Jassim Al-Jalabi’s goal.
Riyad Nasser scored Al-Wakrah’s fourth goal in the 51st minute and Ismail Mahmoud then made it 5-1 in the 86th minute.
