Al-Sadd holds main session to prepare for Al-Kharaitiyat

Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Monday from 5:30 PM as part of the preparations for the upcoming Qatar Stars League Round 14 match against Al-Kharaitiyat, which is set to be played on January 4 at the Al-Khor Stadium.

The Wolves go into Wednesday’s match with 31 points in the league table, sitting in second place. In the last game in Round 13, Al-Sadd drew 1-1 with El-Jaish. As for the opponents Al-Kharaitiyat, they are in 10th place with 12 points, having won their last game against Al-Gharafa 2-0. In the last meeting between Al-Sadd and Al-Kharaitiyat, which happened in the first phase of the league, Al-Sadd won 4-0.

During Monday’s session at the club’s training pitch, Jesualdo Ferreira and the coaching staff were keen on choosing the starting lineup for the match keeping in mind the players that are missing due to injuries and suspension. The boss held a practice match in the middle of the pitch after the warmup routine with all the players showing great spirit.

Abdelkarim returns to the team

Defender Abdelkarim Hassan is set to return to action after the end of his one-match suspension, which ruled him out of the game against El-Jaish. The suspension came after he picked up his fourth yellow card against Al-Sailiya.

Morteza and Hamroun ruled out due to suspension

Al-Sadd will miss the duo of Morteza Pouraliganji and Jugurtha Hamroun in the game against Al-Kharaitiyat after they were both suspended. Pouraliganji received a red card in the last game against El-Jaish while Hamroun was shown a fourth yellow card, also in the same game.

International call-up for Bounedjah

Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah will not appear for Al-Sadd in the next few matches after he was called up to his national team squad for the 2017 African Cup of Nations, which is set to be held between January 14 and February 5.

Injury keeps out Khalfan and Al-Haydos

Al-Sadd’s absentee list also includes Khalfan Ibrahim and Hassan Al-Haydos, both of who will miss the match as they are injured. Al-Haydos underwent a hernia surgery in Germany and he is ruled out of action for 3-4 weeks while he proceeds with his recuperation. Khalfan is also recovering after picking up a muscle injury in training on Friday and will be out for 3 weeks.

Al-Haydos returns from Germany

On Sunday evening, Hassan Al-Haydos returned home from Germany after his hernia surgery which took place on Thursday. He went on to participate in the training session on Monday, starting his recuperation and physiotherapy programme and also showing his support for the Wolves before the next match.

Hamza trains intensely

Al-Sadd striker Hamza Al-Sanhaji continued with his strong show in training following his return to the club after a loan stint at El-Jaish. He is now expected to be an excellent attacking option for the Wolves, especially with the team missing players in attack.

Five U23 team players return

The five Al-Sadd players who took part in the Qatar U23 nation team returned to the club on Sunday. Hussam Kamal, Salem Al-Hajri, Meshaal Al-Shammari, Hassan Ahmed and Khaled Al-Yazidi joined the team’s training session on Sunday after the end of their U23 team camp, which saw friendlies against the military team and the Chinese U23 team.

Al-Sadd will hold their final session before the match from 5:30 PM on Tuesday, after which the head coach will announce the matchday squad.
