Al-Sadd hold main session ahead of Al-Gharafa clash, Bounedjah and Sayyar ruled out

The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Tuesday evening, ahead of the upcoming clash with Al-Gharafa in the QNB Stars League. The Round 14 game will kick off at 6:40 PM on Thursday at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium.

Al-Sadd will go into the match sitting in second place in the league table with 31 points, after winning their last game 6-0 against Al-Sailiya. As for Al-Gharafa, they are in sixth place with 17 points and defeated Umm Salal 4-2 in their last game. The meeting between the two sides during the first phase of the season saw Al-Sadd win 2-1.

The Wolves will now look to continue their good form and get closer to the top. With a number of players excelling in the last game, Tuesday’s training session saw Al-Sadd coaching staff work on choosing their preferred options for the lineup.

The coaches focused on tactical training and team work before moving on set pieces and crossing. In the second part of the session, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira had the players fight it out in a small-sided practice game.

Bounedjah and Sayyar ruled out

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that both Baghdad Bounedjah and Ahmed Sayyar will be unavailable for the game against Al-Gharafa. Bounedjah is still undergoing a rehabilitation programme whereas Ahmed Sayyar is undergoing treatment at Aspetar hospital.

Ferreira and Xavi to attend press conference

The pre-match press conference will be held at the club’s conference hall from 4:30 PM on Wednesday with head coach Ferreira and captain Xavi Hernandez in attendance to speak to the media.
