Al-Sadd continues winning run with 3-1 victory over Qatar SC

Al-Sadd clinched a 3-1 victory over Qatar SC in the QNB Stars League Round 4 match that was played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday. Morteza Pouraliganji, Baghdad Bounedjah and Hassan Al-Haydos scored for Al-Sadd, while Mohammed Tayebi netted for Qatar SC.

The results sees Al-Sadd keep up its winning run which has seen 4 wins from 4 games. The Wolves are second in the league standings with 12 points, the same as leaders Al-Duhail, who are ahead on goal difference.

Al-Sadd could have scored in the third minute itself with Pedro wasting an opportunity right in front of goal after a corner played in by Xavi fell to his feet. Pedro’s shot went over the crossbar.

Khoukhi Boualem then had a fierce shot at goal from outside the box but Qatar SC keeper Rajab Hamza kept it out for a corner.

Al-Sadd finally went ahead in the 24th minute with Morteza Pouraliganji heading in after a cross from the left by Hassan Al-Haydos.

Both teams had chacnes to score after that but no goal came about until halftime, and the players headed to the tunnel with Al-Sadd leading 1-0.

At the hour mark, Qatar SC equalized. The Al-Sadd defenders failed to defend a corner properly and Qatar SC captain Mohammed Tayebi was at the far post to slam home the equalizer.

Just two minutes later, Al-Sadd restored their lead when substitute Bounedjah fired in a powerful shot from around thirty yards out, which went in past the outstretched arms of Rajab Hamza.

Hassan Al-Haydos then got his name onto the scoresheet late on when he netted in the 86th minute. Bounedjah picked up the ball on the left and played it across to the oncoming Al-Haydos who took a touch before chipping the ball in and taking the score to 3-1.
