Al-Sadd clinch derby with 3-1 win over Al-Arabi
2 min readGoals from Baghdad Bounedjah, Pedro Miguel and Ali Asad gave Al-Sadd a 3-1 win over Al-Arabi in the QNB Stars League game played at the Grand Hamad Stadium on Friday.
The result took Al-Sadd to the top of the league table with 15 points after 5 wins in 5 matches.
Al-Sadd took the lead in the 3rd minute itself when Bounedjah scored. The Algerian striker pounced on the ball when Al-Arabi keeper missed it completely, and went on to score past the final defender on the goal line.
Pedro Miguel then doubled the lead for Al-Sadd in the 26th minute after finishing off a cross from Hassan Al Haydos with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box.
Brazilian attacked Diego Jardel reduced the deficit for Al-Arabi three minutes before halftime. His shot from outside the box deceived Al-Sadd keeper Saad Al-Dosari and went in, taking the score to 2-1.
Al-Arabi then tried to get back into the game with another goal but Al-Sadd stood firm at the back.
Eventually, Al-Sadd managed to add to their scoreline further with a goal from Ali Asad deep into injury time. The substitute picked up a pass from Bounedjah before netting past Muhannad Naim.
