AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd overcome Al-Duhail to reach quarter-finals
Al-Sadd reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Champions League after a 3-1 win over Al-Duhail in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash. The result gave Al-Sadd an overall 4-2 win on aggregate, setting up a quarter-final fixture with Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
Akram Afif put the Wolves ahead on the night with his 20th minute strike, before Abdelkarim Hassan made it 2-0 with a ferocious free-kick effort in the 34th minute. Edmilson pulled a goal back for Al-Duhail in the 56th minute but Abdelkarim put the result beyond doubt for Al-Sadd with another goal in stoppage time. Al-Duhail’s Mohammed Muntari was sent off in the dying minutes.
