AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd lose 4-1 to Al-Hilal
Al-Sadd suffered a 4-1 defeat to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia in their AFC Champions League semifinal first leg clash, which was held on Tuesday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
An own goal from Al-Hilal striker Bafetimbi Gomis gave Al-Sadd the lead in the 14th minute, only for the same player to equalise for Al-Hilal in the 33rd minute. At the stroke of halftime, Al-Hilal went 2-1 up with Ali Al Bulayhi’s goal. Salem Al-Hajri then put into his own goal in the 60th minute to make the score 3-1. Substitute Mohammed Al-Shalhoub scored the fourth and final goal in the 67th minute.
Abdelkarim Hassan was sent off in the 35th minute, which proved to be the turning point in the game.
The second leg will be played in Riyadh on October 22.
