Jesualdo Ferreira, head coach of the Al-Sadd football first team, spoke to the media on Tuesday and talked of how difficult and important the upcoming QSL Round 6 game against Al-Shahaniya will be.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It is an important match and it is going to be difficult against a team that is coming on the back of three positive results in the last three rounds. And so, we must give our best and be focused in order to get the win.” He went on to stress that the Al-Shahaniya players will be extremely motivated to face Al-Sadd and get a good result.

As for the challenge thrown up by the Shahaniya coach and the capability of his team to get a result against Al-Sadd, Ferreira said: “This is the Portuguese winning mentality; we always seek to win. I wish him good luck. This is a positive thing to have a winning mentality. But there are negative aspects to it too, wherein there is a lot of spirit and desire to win but it is more important to work and be focused.”

Ferreira went on to explain: “We at Al-Sadd are not bothered by how the opponent is but what is important for us is to win. This season, we only have one ambition and that is to get many titles and not just the league. Especially as I started with the team from the start of this season. And I think that my team has not lost since the Qatar Cup and this is a real positive thing.”

He also said: “We have some difficulties with some players joining the national teams, in addition to injuries which is a natural thing everywhere. But we have to play and fight in all of our matches until the last minute, to keep our focus so that we can win. We cannot lose in a match like this because what follows will not be easy.”

The Al-Sadd coach added: “We dropped two points against a strong Al-Gharafa side and we should have played until the 95th minute to maintain our lead. The next match against Al-Shahaniya will be a big challenge for us in order to get the win.”

Ferreira concluded: “Our aim is to win the match against Al-Shahaniya and all the others, especially as our opportunity to compete for the title has not been hampered by the draw with Al-Gharafa. All the teams have difficult matches ahead of them and the campaign is long.”
