Al-Sadd resume training with 8 players; begin preparations for Muaither

The Al-Sadd football first team resumed training on Sunday after taking a day off following the 1-2 loss to Lekhwiya in the QSL Round 16 match played on Friday.

Sunday’s session kicked off at 5:45 PM at the club’s training pitch with the Wolves launching their preparations for the QSL Round 17 game against Muaither, which will be played on January 22 at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium.

Al-Sadd are currently in second place in the league standings with 37 points.

The team trained on Sunday without 7 players who are currently away with the Qatar national team camp (Mohammed Kasola, Ibrahim Majid, Ali Asad, Saad Al-Dosari, Pedro, Salem Al-Hajri, Hamed Ismail) as part of the preparations for the upcoming friendly game against Moldova, which will be played on Tuesday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Four other players (Meshaal Al-Shammari, Hassan Ahmed, Ayoob Mashhoor, Hussam Kamal) were also absent as they are with the Qatar U23 football team which is preparing to face Hong Kong in a friendly which will be played at the Grand Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

On the injury list are Hassan Al-Haydos and Khalfan Ibrahim, who are both undergoing recuperation. Khalfan suffered a back muscle injury whereas Al-Haydos underwent a hernia surgery at the end of December.

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah is currently in Gabon, representing his national team at the 2017 African Cup of Nations which runs from January 14 to February 5.

As for the reserve team players, they were given a day off from training on Sunday after they played in the 0-2 defeat to Al-Khor in Round 11 of the QatarGas League. They will return to training on Monday.

Sunday’s session saw the coaching staff implement the training routine, amidst a focus on technical and tactical aspects of the game. 8 players were present for the session – Mohammed Ezzeldeen, Abdelkarim Hassan, Morteza Pouraliganji, Jugurtha Hamroun, Ghassan Waheed, Abdulaziz Al-Jalabi, Xavi Hernandez and Hamza Al-Sanhaji.
