Ferreira: I want to thank the fans, I will cherish this title

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of his great delight following his side’s triumph over El-Jaish in the final of the 2017 Qatar Cup on Saturday night.

Spekaing after the match, Ferreira said: “This is my first title with Al-Sadd. I cherish this title, which is the first in the history of the club. I hope to win the Emir’s Cup too and from this moment, we have to think about that because it is a huge title that we must win this season.”

He added: “I am very happy with this triumph, which came after an intense effort throughout the season, during which we tried to win the league but couldn’t.”

Ferreira also said: “The match was very difficult. El-Jaish is not an easy opponent and although they were missing their prominent player Lucas Mendes, this did not effect their players. I had confidence that we would win and get the title especially after our work in the recent period. The players were also confident and they put in great effort in order to get the title. We were focused on winning the title and this is what matters in a final. The players succeded in doing that with excellence. We managed to get this title into our trophy room for the first time.”

He concluded by saying: “I thank all the Al-Sadd fans who attended the match and supported us. From now, we will start thinking about the upcoming match against Al-Kharaitiyat in the Emir’s Cup.”
