Xavi: This is a deserved win and a great boost ahead of the Al-Rayyan clash

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness with his side’s big 6-1 victory over Al-Arabi in the postponed Round 5 match in the QNB Stars League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Xavi said: “I am very happy with what the players displayed today. We worked, fought and controlled the whole match against a strong Al-Arabi team, which has been very different this season.”

He added: I am very happy to score 6 goals and this is really great. Against Al Wakrah, we did not score and today we were able to score 6 goals. We also wasted 25 chances and this also happened against Al Wakrah.”

The coach continued: “We are happy with what we showed today, and I must point out that the Qatari league has changed a lot with the presence of players and coaches of the highest levels. I am always proud of working with Al Sadd.”

Asked about the team’s motivation ahead of the upcoming match against Al-Rayyan, Xavi said: “Today’s victory is a great boost for us and increases the morale of everyone before we play Al Rayyan in the Qatar Cup semi-final.”

He added: “We have to think about the next match, as it is a very difficult semi-final and the Qatari Clasico. Al-Rayyan defeated us in the league, and we need to adjust some things to achieve victory in this game, especially as we are aiming to compete in all competitions.”
