Xavi: I’m proud of the players’ performance

Al-Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his delight after winning his second title with Al-Sadd this season, with a 4-0 win over Al-Duhail in the final of the 2020 Qatar Cup.

Speaking after the match, Xavi said: “I’m very happy to win the championship, and also with the impressive level shown by the Al-Sadd players in a match that was great for us. My team deserved to win the title.”

Xavi added: “I consider today’s match and the semi-final match against Al Rayyan as two of the best matches of Al Sadd this season, in terms of the strong performance on the part of the players, who made a great effort to win the two games and which got them the Qatar Cup.”

“The players made a great effort, both in the last Al-Rayyan match and this match. This is very important to us and it helped us in achieving the title on merit. I was waiting for this from the players, as they are currently in the best technical, physical and mental conditions.”

Xavi added: “This is the second title for Al Sadd, and for me as a coach in this season. Everything in this final match was wonderful, and the truth is, when the players give 100% of their effort, it is natural that this will be reflected on the performance, and then we get these results which got us the title.”

“I’m happy with the players for the work they did throughout the recent period, as they made a great effort through which we succeeded in winning the match and the title. I am very proud of what the players did, I’m proud of the performance they showed in the match and this is what is expected of them regularly.”

Xavi also congratulated the Al Sadd fans on winning the championship and said: “I am happy with this victory and I congratulate the fans that followed and supported the team as it is an important title for Al Sadd and everyone can rejoice with the title and the great performance displayed by the players. The players showed their real level, which is expected of them in this season.”

Xavi concluded his remarks by saying: “This is a happy night for all of us as we have won a big and important title. It is something that confirms that Al-Sadd has regained its full level and strength that everyone knows.”
