Spanish legend Xavi expressed his happiness after joining Al Sadd for the next two seasons. He said that he would give his all and spare no effort in leading Al Sadd to titles.
Xavi continued further saying that he chose to go to Al Sadd because of his desire to continue playing and he hoped to achieve success here.
He said: “I accepted the offer from Al-Sadd as I was looking for a new challenge, in which I could transfer the experience accumulated during my time at Barcelona.
When asked about the possibility of replicating La Masia, which has produced talented players such as Iniesta, Messi, Busquets, Pique and many other Barcelona stars, Xavi said: “The project is very important and I think it is possible to replicate it here in Qatar. Messi was a foreigner who came to La Masia and so I am hopeful of transferring all I learnt at Barcelona to Al Sadd and Aspire.”
As for his footballing future, Xavi said: “I came to Qatar to play for Al Sadd Club and after that I do not know what will happen in the future. Maybe I could follow in the footsteps of Guardiola but at the moments, the only thing that matters to me is leading Al Sadd to titles; I hope I can win the Asian Champions League with them and I also I hope I can add to my personal achievements after I was able to win the UEFA Champions League on multiple occasions.”
Xavi also stated that Qatar was working towards a successful World Cup, saying: “Everyone in this country is working to achieve a model World Cup and I am honored to be an ambassador of Qatar 2022 and help in that regard. I feel proud to be here in this country that will impress the world with a model tournament.”
The legend also said that he hoped his new team could play Barcelona at Camp Nou because it will be a great event and a chance for the players of Al Sadd to play in the stadium.
