Xavi: Al-Duhail clash will be difficult and complicated
Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez described his side’s upcoming clash with Al-Duhail as “difficult” and “complicated.”
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We know that tomorrow’s game will be difficult and complicated. We were better than them in the Champions League and we defeated them in the Super Cup as well. But Saturday’s game will be for three points, and in a different competition.”
He added: “We know how strong Al-Duhail are and they will be looking to make an impact. They are missing some players but they are still a strong team.”
“I look forward to seeing the Al-Sadd fans support us to get the win.”
Asked about his team’s ability to remain focused after their Champions League exit, Xavi said: “We wanted to reach the Champions League final but this is how football is. Our focus now is on the league. After two games, there will be more strength in the team. We will (also) have a lot of work to do at the Club World Cup, in which we want to give our best.”
As for Abdelkarim Hassan’s absence, the coach said: “Abdelkarim’s suspension is a decision from the club management. I await the lifting of the suspension. He is an exemplary player and he is training well with us. Yes, he made a mistake and apologized, but the decision to lift the suspension will be in the hands of the management.”
