Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon spoke of his happiness after Al-Sadd won the 2017 Qatar Cup title with a 2-1 win over El-Jaish in the final on Saturday night.
Speaking to the Al-Sadd Club official website, Calderon said: “I am very happy with Al-Sadd’s triumph. I think I brought luck to the team! I am happier for the head coach (Ferreira) and Xavi; this is the first title for both of them. From today, I consider myself Saddawi and one of the fans of the club.”
Ali Faraj Al-Ghanem: Delighted with the 66th title
Al-Sadd technical supervisor Ali Faraj Al-Ghanem expressed his delight after the club won its first ever title in the Qatar Cup, which also happens to be title no. 66 in the club’s history.
Al-Ghanem said: “I am delighted with the huge triumph; we have managed to win this title for the first time. After losing out on the league title, this win will be a great boost as the team goes on to compete for the Emir’s Cup title.”
The technical supervisor added that the Cup win came at the right time and the players carried out their responsibility very well, putting in a lot of effort in the final against the El-Jaish side.
