Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd reach semifinals with shootout win over Qatar SC
Al-Sadd reached the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup semifinals, after defeating Qatar SC 5-4 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in normal time, in their quarterfinal game played at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.
The Wolves opened the scoring in the 62nd minute through Hamed Ismail’s free-kick, only for Qatar SC to equalise via Kayke Moreno’s penalty in the 79th minute. Al-Sadd had Khaled Al Yazidi sent off in the 78th minute.
Normal time thus ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with the match moving straightaway to a penalty shootout.
Abdelkarim Hassan, Hamed Ismail, Mohammed Waad, Ayoub Mashhour and Rami Suhail all scored their penalties for Al-Sadd, while Meshaal Barsham saved Qatar SC midfielder Abdenasser El Khayati’s effort.
