Abdelkarim: Happy to be going abroad, my ambition doesn’t end in Belgium
Al-Sadd’s Abdelkarim Hassan spoke to the club website after renewing his contract until 2020 and also agreeing to move to Belgian side Eupen on a one year loan.
How did your move to Belgium materialise?
Abdelkarim Hassan: There was a big personal desire from my side to play abroad and have a professional experience. I had a number of offers from foreign clubs but I preferred the one from Eupen because it is helping Qatar prepare for 2022 and is a project for Qatari youth to play professionally abroad, with the help of the state. This project encourages youth to go abroad. I hope I can be a part of this project and represent my country well.
What are your goals in the upcoming period?
AK: My ambition doesn’t end at Eupen. My goal is to play in one of the big leagues. Eupen could be my door to that. Belgium has given many players to the big leagues.
Any final remarks to your Al-Sadd teammates and fans?
AK: I thank Al-Sadd for their confidence in me. This is why I became prominent. It is my home and I will follow the team. I wish them luck in all the tournaments. I also want to thank the Al-Sadd players who I played with; they were the reason for my good performances. I also extend my gratitude to the Al-Sadd fans in particular, and the Qatari fans in general for their support for me.
