Muriqui leads Al-Sadd to 4-1 win over Al-Wakrah

Brazilian forward Muriqui led Al-Sadd back to winning ways after a big 4-1 victory over Al-Wakrah in a Round 3 match of the Qatar Stars League, which took place at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
Abdulkarim Hassan opened the scoring for Al-Sadd in the 31st minute before Nadir Belhadj doubled the advantage at the hour mark. Muriqui then scored to make it 3-0, after which Sebastian Saez netted from the spot for Al-Wakrah. Muriqui restored the three-goal lead with his second goal in the 86th minute giving Al-Sadd a valuable 4-1 win.
The match saw a spirited start in the first ten minutes from Al-Sadd as they showed a lot of desire to attack and get the win. Hassan al-Haydos had a shot go wide in the 9th minute, while at the other end Ahmed Kahel also had a chance.
Playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Al-Sadd dominated possession in the first half but without any real danger, until the 31st minute when they finally scored. Muriqui headed a Xavi corner on to the post and Abdulkarim Hassan bundled the ball in to give Al-Sadd the lead.
After the restart, Al-Wakrah players pressurized Al-Sadd all over the pitch. In between, al-Haydos sent a powerful shot wide. A few minutes later, Al-Sadd dealt Al-Wakrah another blow when Muriqui sent Belhadj through; the Algerian poked the ball past the onrushing keeper and then scored into an empty net.
With the score at 2-0, Al-Sadd made its first substitution in the 62nd minute, bringing on Nasser Ibrahim in place of Khalfan Ibrahim. In the 69th minute, the Wolves extended their lead further when Xavi played the ball through to Muriqui who made no mistake and got his first goal of the night.
Even amidst the Al-Sadd domination, Al-Wakrah conjured up a few chances, albeit without any danger. In the 83rd minute, Wakrah striker Maher Yousef was brought down in the box and Sebastian Saez dispatched the resulting penalty to pull a goal bacl. However, Al-Sadd restored their three-goal lead a couple of minutes later, when Muriqui scored his second of the night and his fifth of the season.
