Mohammed Ghanem al-Ali, Head of Football at Al-Sadd, emphasized the importance of the Qatar Clasico between the Wolves and the Lions, especially for Al-Sadd who need to return to winning ways after losing in the last two rounds.
Al-Ali said that the team is fully ready to play the match and stressed the importance of having a good attendance of Al-Sadd fans to motivate and push the team to victory in this big match.
Speaking to the club website, he added: “The match is between two teams with great histories, considered to be the giants of Qatari football in addition to Al-Arabi. When these three play, all differences disappear and the fans of these clubs know what I am talking about.”
Al-Ali also spoke against making a quick judgement about Jesualdo Ferreira after only his first match, as he is working to put his ideas into motion and needs time to get used to the surroundings.
The head of football also praised Al-Rayyan who have been playing exceptionally well this season and attributed it to the great efforts of their club president Sheikh Saoud bin Khaled al Thani. He said that if Rayyan is strong, then the league is also strong and also helps in building a strong national team.
As for the decision of the disciplinary committee to rescind the red card given to Rayyan midfielder Victor Caceres in the last match, Al-Ali said: “The player did not deserve to be sent off and the decision to rescind the red card is the right one, just as it was in the case of our player Nadir Belhadj. I think it will be in the advantage of the Clasico to have both teams play with their best weapons.”
In conclusion, Al-Ali sent this message to Al-Sadd fans: “You are the soul of this club and your presence with the team gives it life; it revitalizes it and God willing, will make it win.”
