Al-Sadd SC head of football Mohammed Ghanem Al-Ali spoke to the official club website and talked about a number of things, including the last game against Al-Gharafa. He said: “The refereeing errors in our last match against Al-Gharafa influenced the course and result of the match in a big way.” At the same time, Al-Ali also supported the development of local referees.
The head of football also said: “We were hoping that the referees focus more especially as we are in the final stretch of the league. We could have been two points behind second spot now if it was not for those errors which we hope will not occur again in the game against Al-Kharaitiyat on Friday.”
As for the criticism given by deputy head of football Jafal Rashed on Twitter, Al-Ali said: “When we speak of the history and records of Al-Sadd, we cannot forget Jafal Rashed as he was a main part of these achievements. And so what he says through Twitter or any other means is welcomed by us – be it him or any other person who is devoted to this club through work or spirit, we welcome their criticism; we are open to it and we agree with some of it.”
Al-Ali concluded by saying: “The aim of the team in the remaining matches is to finish in second place to confirm an AFC Champions League spot for next season and then compete for the Qatar Cup and also the Emir Cup, which we have held for the past two years.”
