Internationals return as Al-Sadd resume training, Pedro ruled out of Super Cup

The Al-Sadd football first team resumed practice at 6:30 PM on Wednesday at the club’s training facilities, following a day of rest on Tuesday. The team is preparing to face Al-Duhail in the Sheikh Jassim Cup/Super Cup match, which will be played on Saturday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Wednesday’s training session saw the return of the international players (Saad Al-Dosari, Khoukhi Boualem, Hassan Al-Haydos, Ali Asad, Musab Kheder, Pedro Miguel) after their participation with the Qatar national team during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Syria and China.

Also returning on Wednesday was Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji, who was away with the Iran national team for the games against Korea Republic and Syria.

The Wolves went through routine warmup training to work on their fitness on Wednesday evening, in addition to light training with the ball that focused on one-touch play.

⋅ Saoud Al-Hajri attends the session

Al-Sadd’s injured keeper Saoud Al-Hajri attended the training session to show his support for the players ahead of the Super Cup match. Al-Hajri had undergone an ACL surgery in August after getting injured during the team’s preseason camp in Austria.

⋅ Pedro ruled out of Super Cup match

Pedro Miguel has been ruled out of the upcoming Super Cup match against Al-Duhail, after he lost consciousness during Qatar’s match against Syria. Pedro is set to return to training after complete recovery.

⋅ Light training for the internationals

The international players underwent light training on Wednesday and did not participate in group training with the rest of the team.

⋅ Main training session on Thursday

The first team will hold its main training session on Thursday evening, during which the coaching staff will look to select their options for the starting XI.

⋅ Fans show their support

A number of Al-Sadd fans showed their support for the first team by attending the training session, ahead of the Super Cup clash with Al-Duhail.

⋅ Yasser Abubakar and Ferreira to attend presser

The pre-match press conference for the Super Cup game will be held on Thursday and will be attended by head coach Jesualdo Ferreira and player Yasser Abubakar. The press conference will start at 11 AM at the Al-Duhail Club conference hall.
