Internationals return as Al-Sadd continue preparations for facing Al-Wasl
After the return of the international players, Al-Sadd intensified their preparations on Wednesday evening, ahead of the upcoming AFC Champions League Group C game against Al-Wasl.
The session on Wednesday witnessed the return of six Al-Sadd players after international duty with the Qatar national team: Saad Al-Dosari, Hassan Al-Haydos, Salem Al-Hajri, Akram Afif, Pedro Miguel, Abdelkarim Hassan.
Five other players returned after their participation with the Qatar U23 team (Meshaal Barsham, Hatem Kamal, Hussain Bahzad, Meshaal Ibrahim, Hassan Ahmed) while four players came back from the U19 team duty (Ahmed Suhail, Bahaa Ellithy, Yousuf Abdulrazaq, Mohammed Waad).
The senior Qatar national team had won the International Friendship Tournament that took place in Basra, with the participation of Syria and hosts Iraq, between 21st and 27th of March. The U23 team played a friendly against Oman while the U19 team held friendlies during their camp in the UK, as part of the preparation for the upcoming AFC U-19 Championship.
Iranian international Morteza Pouraliganji also joined the squad for training on Wednesday after playing for his nationa team in preparatory friendlies ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah will join the squad on Thursday after his return to Doha on Wednesday, following his participation with the Algerian national team in friendly games against Tanzania and Iran.
During Wednesday’s session, the team trained intensely amidst an atmosphere of high spirits, as the team look to get the crucial win against Al-Wasl, which could possibly take them closer to the next round of the AFC Champions League.
Meanwhile, Khoukhi Boualem has joined the team for training after his recovery from injury and the coaching staff have been keen to get him in top shape for the upcoming games.
Elsewhere, it was confirmed that Pedro Miguel will be suspended for one domestic game, after the announcement from the QFA disciplinary committee following their review of the red card incident in the QNB Stars League game against Al-Khor.
